Federally funded scholarships are now available for students who plan to study Arabic at Penn State’s STARTALK Arabic Academy (June 12 to July 9, 2014).
This four-week intensive program includes ample interaction in Arabic to help students get up to speed quickly in a fun and culture-rich environment. Morning classes are enhanced by activities including an afternoon immersion session and email or video partnerships with students in Morocco who speak Arabic and are learning English.
Students can complete the equivalent of a full semester’s study of Arabic and receive four academic credits for Penn State’s Arabic 001 course. Scholarships typically cover 90% of in-state tuition for summer ARAB 001 or the equivalent dollar amount towards out-of-state tuition. Interested students should submit their applications promptly in order to be considered for 15 to 20 scholarships. Application forms and further information are available at http://www.outreach.psu.edu/language-institute/startalk-arabic-academy-for-students
Similar scholarships are also available for introductory Summer Turkish and Chinese. Please consult the Language Institute website for further information.
