Duties:
As a Paralegal Specialist some of your duties may include the following:
- Review investigative reports, testimonies, interviews, files, and documents for a variety of civil and/or criminal cases.
- Prepare narrative summaries, charts, tables, graphs, and other visual aide to be used during trial.
- Utilize a variety of automated legal research tools as well as public information databases and other automated resources to research case- or program- specific legal matters.
- Participate in the interviewing of potential witnesses, summarizing their prospective testimony, and suggest questions during examinations.
- Serve as an liaison with client agencies to keep them informed about the litigation, and to seek their assistance to resolve particular legal or factual problems.
Qualifications:
To qualify for the Paralegal Specialist position you must meet the requirements as defined.
A. You have a bachelor’s degree and meet superior academic achievement based on (1) class standing, (2) grade-point average, or (3) honor society membership.
— Class standing – Applicants must be in the upper third of the graduating class in the college, university, or major subdivision, such as the College of Liberal Arts or the School of Business Administration, based on completed courses.
— Grade-point average (G.P.A.) Applicants must have a grade-point average of:3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0 (“B” or better) as recorded on their official transcript, or as computed based on 4 years of education, or as computed based on courses completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum; or 3.5 or higher out of a possible 4.0 (“B+” or better) based on the average of the required courses completed in the major field or the required courses in the major field completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum. – OR-
B. You have one full year of graduate level study, or possess a Master’s or higher degree, e.g., LL.B, J.D., LL.M., Ph.D., in law or a legal field that provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities to do the work of the position. Note, one year of full-time graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent 1 year of full-time study. If that information cannot be obtained from the school, 18 semester hours should be considered as satisfying the 1 year of full-time study requirement. – OR-
C. You have at least one year of work experience that involved preparing or reviewing contracts or other legal instruments for legal adequacy and conformance with applicable laws. – OR-
D. You have less than the full amount of graduate education described in “B” and less than the amount of experience described in “C”, but have a combination of the type of graduate education described in “B” and the kind of experience described in “C” that when combined the total percentages equal at least 100 percent.
SALARY RANGE: $44,619.00 to $57,997.00 / Per Year
