The Student Financial Education Center (SFEC) is currently looking for dedicated students with an interest in financial literacy to serve as Peer Educators. The SFEC aims to provide personal finance education to students studying at Penn State University Park, as well as presentations on budgeting, forecasting, and general money management for clubs and organizations. Peer educators serve as the core staffers of the SFEC to provide one-on-one counseling to students seeking help or additional information regarding personal finance.
Prospective peer educators will undergo comprehensive training in the topics of budgeting, credit, and student loans, and will be certified to hold office hours in the SFEC office (309 Paterno Library) every week, and as well as develop and present seminars to classes and student groups.
Peer educator training occurs on a rolling basis, and students can begin the process at any time during the semester. Any student who is currently a freshmen, sophomore, or junior is eligible to apply to serve as a Peer Educator. If you are interested in applying or receiving more information, please contact the SFEC’s Administrative Officer, Lauren Reiter at lmr29@psu.edu.
