There are typically two types of positions in Human Resources. HR specialists tend to focus on one part of HR, such as recruiting or employee relations. HR generalists will handle a number of different tasks and responsibilities. Larger organizations tend to recruit HR employees that specify in one area while smaller ones often have a professional that is more of a general Human Resources employee. Either way, it is a fast growing field with a lot of room to advance once you enter it, especially if you are looking to get an MBA.
