Hi everyone,
If you’re interested in studying abroad in Australia — and I know some of you are because it’s one of Penn State’s top destinations, have a look at these pictures. I was recently in Melbourne, Australia for a week at a conference where most of the faculty were Australian–including faculty from the 3 major universities right in Melbourne itself: RMIT, Monash, and U of Melbourne. I was able to visit the international programs office at the University of Melbourne as well, and got a nice tour of the campus and information about their program. You can hardly go wrong choosing a university–all the ones Penn State has a relationship with are excellent research institutions. And Australia itself–well, it was great, just as everyone I’ve ever talked to about it has said. Melbourne is a busy, handsome, comfortable city–full of museums, restaurants, lots of things to do. A very liveable place. It has its own beaches on Phillips Bay–and the coast, with its cliffs and rock formations, is only about a 60-90 minutes away. And yes I did see koala bears and kangaroos, as well as one “tiny penguin” (as they’re called).
If you’d like to talk more about Australia, feel free to get in touch with me (jaw55@psu.edu) or with the Ed Abroad area advisor for that country, David Derstine (djd246@IP.psu.edu). Enjoy my photos!
