My love of advising originated out of my relationship with my undergraduate academic adviser who exposed me to the important (although sometimes subtle) role an academic adviser can have in a student’s academic, personal, and professional life. It was through this relationship that I cultivated my interest in higher education, and understood the importance of my taking responsibility for my own education, informed decision-making, and the opportunities available to me (both in and out of the classroom). My educational background is in student affairs, so with this I come to advising with an attempt to be mindful of students’ in and out of class experiences.
Something most students don’t know about you: I have a very adventurous palette, and love a wide variety of foods and cuisines. With that said, there are two foods that I absolutely cannot tolerate: tomatoes and bananas.
If you could do college over again: Certainly have taken many things more seriously (across the board). But to be specific, I would have pursued an education abroad or exchange experience, and sought out the opportunity to engage in undergraduate research.
What you like most about your job: I love my job! I love working with students as they explore their education, personal, and professional goals-,and how to achieve those goals. I love my colleagues who make everyday fun and who challenge me to be a better professional.
