Liberal Arts Students:
Earn 3 GenEd credits, online, at a reduced tuition rate.
The College of the Liberal Arts is offering its first massively open online course (MOOC), SOC 201: The Social Science of Wrongful Conviction.
The MOOC employs the perspective of the social scientist to understand why and how wrongful convictions occur. The course will open to thousands of students for free on the Coursera platform in late June, and will also be offered for Penn State credit at a reduced tuition rate of $333 per credit beginning July 2. You can learn more about the course and watch a preview video by visiting the registration website.
More than 5,000 students have already signed up for the free version of the course on coursera.org. As a credit seeking student, you will join these learners and participate in more rigorous assignments, and your work will be evaluated by the instructor and teaching assistants.
The reduced tuition rate is designed to make the course more accessible to MOOC participants and a wider public, but it is also available to you as a Penn State student.
