Last week’s first annual Liberal Arts Career Week was a huge success! Throughout the week, students attended a number of events that prepared them for life after graduation and connected them with employers. Here’s a summary of everything that happened:
- On Monday, students attended a workshop on how to use LinkedIn and how to network with potential employers. An expert from Career Services gave a presentation on how to make the most out of LinkedIn and why it’s important to set goals for networking.
- On Tuesday, we started off with information tables in the Sparks lobby from Target and Vanguard. At night, we had a workshop of employers that helped students on what employers today are looking for and how they can market themselves.
- Wednesday we had more employer information tables from PNC Bank, Deloitte, Kohl’s, and Liberty Mutual during the day in the Sparks lobby. Then at night, representatives from Kohl’s talked to students about the dos and don’ts of interviewing.
- Thursday was the last of the workshops. We had a panel of juniors and seniors answer questions about their past internships experiences and what to expect in the workplace.
- Saturday was the final event, and despite the Winter Storm Jonas, we had an awesome turnout. Panels of Liberal Arts alumni from different fields answered students’ questions about their career and how they got from graduation to where they are.
Thanks to all the students, alumni, and employers who came out and made it such a success! We look forward to bringing Career Week back next year.
In the meantime, we have a busy couple of weeks ahead of us. The Career Enrichment Network will be hosting an event next week entitled “Marketing Your Liberal Arts Degree.” Come to 103 Bank of America Building on February 2nd at 12:30pm to learn more. Career Services will also be hosting their Spring Career Days on February 9 & 10 and there will be a number of workshops to help students prepare for that. Check our Network Symplicity calendar to stay up-to-date with upcoming events.
