For this week’s Industry Spotlight, we’re taking a look at positions in the government. In the government, students of any major or degree level can often find a position that will interest and challenge them. Positions are also available at the local, state, and national levels, making them much more geographically accessible.
One possible constraint of internships in the government is that they often do not pay. The Liberal Arts Department and the Career Enrichment Network want to provide students with every opportunity to succeed, so we make enrichment funds available to students who qualify. If you have a position and are interested in enrichment funds, apply on the Career Enrichment Network Website. Make sure you get your applications in early though, because the priority deadline for summer internships is May 1st and the final deadline is June 1st.
Here are some of the government positions currently listed in Network Symplicity:

The 13-week Spring and Fall program is open to undergraduate juniors and seniors and the Summer program is open Graduate students from all Pennsylvania colleges and universities as well as PA residents attending schools outside of Pennsylvania.

A weekly journal, an interview assignment with a member of the General Assembly and a press release are examples of additional program assignments.
