There are typically two types of positions in Human Resources, generalists and specialists. HR specialists tend to focus on one part of HR, like recruiting or employee relations. HR generalists will handle a number of different tasks and responsibilities. Larger organizations tend to recruit HR employees that specify in one area while smaller ones often have one that is a more general Human Resources employee. Either way, it is a fast growing field with a lot of room to advance once you enter it, especially if you are looking to get an MBA.
