What’s LEAP?
LEAP’s an academic program designed to give first-year students an academic and personal edge at Penn State. Approximately 1,300 students will have a small college experience while taking classes and living as a community in the same residence hall, and YOU can be a part of that. The LEAP program runs during the second six-week summer session every year, from late June to early August. (For actual dates see the Registrar’s Calendar.)
Be a Mentor.
A LEAP Mentor is an upper-class student who works with a group of 24 new, first-year students as they transition from high school to college during Summer Session 2.
Make a Difference.
Transitioning to a place like Penn State can be overwhelming. LEAP Mentors help to ease that transition for first-year students and get them started on their Penn State journey in a small, supportive environment.
