The application for the 2018 Boren Scholarships (for undergraduates) are open now at www.borenawards.org.
Boren Awards fund U.S. undergraduate and graduate language study and research abroad in world regions critical to U.S. national interests (including Africa, Asia, Central & Eastern Europe, Eurasia, Latin America, and the Middle East). The countries of Western Europe, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand are excluded.
The Boren Scholarships provide up to $20,000 for undergraduate students for language‐focused study abroad.
Webinars on aspects of the Boren Awards, including special regional initiatives and components of the application are scheduled throughout the fall and spring. Sign up today at www.borenawards.org/webinars.html. Additional information on preferred countries, languages, and fields of study can be found at www.borenawards.org.
The Penn State University Fellowships Office deadline for the Boren Scholarship is January 16, 2018. Application Process: The university is required to review all applications, so there is an internal deadline of January 16th. Applicants will have a chance to revise their materials, if necessary, prior to final submission in February. Visit the University Fellowships Office website for more details.
Applicants are encouraged to contact their Boren Awards campus representatives, for institution‐specific guidance. Students at Penn State should contact the University Fellowship Office for guidance on the process. They may also contact Boren Awards staff directly at 1‐800‐618‐NSEP or boren@iie.org.
