Voting isn’t difficult, but it does require an important pre-step: voter registration. Be sure to register as soon as possible so that you can vote in November.
This post provides brief information about when to register, where to register and vote, and how to register. For a more detailed guide created by the University, see Student Affairs’ Voter Registration webpage.
When to Register
The short answer is ASAP!
The long answer is that registration deadlines vary by state. If you want to vote in Pennsylvania in November, the deadline to register is October 9, 2018.
Where to Register and Vote: Pennsylvania or My Home State?
Before registering to vote, you will need to decide where to vote. Be aware that you can vote in Pennsylvania, even if you are originally from another state. College students have the right to register and vote at either their local or permanent address.
How to Register
If you want to vote in Pennsylvania, go to Votes PA to register online. Register by October 9! (If you don’t want to register online for some reason, print the Pennsylvania voter registration form, fill it out, and mail it into your county election office.)
If you want to vote in another state, use Vote.gov to get to the right place. Register ASAP! Don’t forget to request an absentee ballot.
