Advising Intern for International Students

I wanted to take this opportunity to introduce my self to international students in in the CLA here at Penn State. My name is Carla Fernandez, I am currently working with Nimisha Thakur as an advising intern for international students in the CLA. Of the initiatives that I will be involved in are the How to Succeed at PSU Workshop Series aimed at providing guidance and help for international students in various aspects of their personal and academic lives. I will also be working on developing programs for international students such as peer-mentoring. As an international student myself, I understand the challenges associated with transitioning, assimilating and thriving in a whole different environment. How to Succeed at Penn State Workshop Series!

Workshop on Career Services, Jobs and Internships: Resources for international students!

Being an international student can be challenging, but the College of the Liberal Arts is here to support you  and prepare you for a successful career!

With these goals in mind, the college has continued with the How to Succeed at Penn State Workshop Series for the Spring Semester as well.

Before we know it, it will be summer again! This means that it is time to actively pursue internship and job opportunities. This can be an intimidating process for international students in particular, but do not worry, we are here to help you!

This workshop will address the various challenges that international students face when applying, interviewing and getting papers ready for an internship or job. We will be having Mr. Mathew Soroka from Career Services and he will be talking about various resources their office offers for international students.

It will be held from 12:15 – 1:15pm in 309 Sparks on February 18. The attendance to the workshop is by SIGN UP ONLY as there is limited space available.If you have not yet signed up, please register by clicking the Register now button.We look forward to seeing you.
