Goldman Sachs Inspiring Women: Virtual Series

At Goldman Sachs, we believe that our success is deeply rooted in the unique backgrounds, experiences and perspectives of our people. The Inspiring Women: Virtual Series will provide participants the unique opportunity to interact with our Firmwide Women’s Network and senior female leaders of the firm. Participants will also receive tips and best practices for successful navigation of the recruiting process. This series will launch in September and continue throughout October.
Eligible students should be:
  • Current undergraduate juniors (graduating between December 2017 and June 2018)
  • Female
  • Any academic background

  2. Submit an essay based on the following:Please describe a time when you have inspired members or made an impact within an organization, team, or club.
    a. The essay should be 250-500 words.
    b. Submit the essay as a PDF via the online application.

Goldman Sachs 2016 Securities Division Female Insight Day

The Goldman Sachs 2016 Securities Division Female Insight Day is a one -day program offering college sophomores and juniors (graduating in 2019 and 2018) an opportunity to explore the Securities Division at Goldman Sachs. The program features a divisional overview and networking opportunities with Goldman Sachs business and recruiting professionals. If you are selected to attend you will also receive an opportunity to interview for the Securities Division Sales & Trading 2017 Summer Analyst Program.

Mark Your Calendars for Fall Career Days: September 13-15

Fall Career Days is quickly approaching!  Fall Career Days is a week of career fairs combined with some on-campus interviewing, information sessions, and workshops held by employers who are recruiting students on campus.

The majority of the employers at Fall Career Days represent corporate America.  If you are interested in working for a large corporation, the fair may be a fit for you.  Nonprofit and government agencies typically do not attend the Fall Career Days fairs, although there are some exceptions.

For the majority of Liberal Arts students, the relevant fair days are as follows:

It is never too early to start preparing for the fall career fair!

Start to research the employers attending and make a top 5 or 10 list of those with whom you would like to speak. Here are a few companies for Liberal Arts students to check out at the career fair.

Welcome to the Fall Semester!

Greetings from the Liberal Arts Career Enrichment Network!

We hope you had a great summer and that you’re looking forward to a great fall semester. While it’s hard to imagine kicking off an internship or full-time job search as you’re just getting settled into your classes for the semester, well…you need to get working on those searches as soon as possible.  

With that in mind, here’s an easy checklist of 7 things to do as soon as possible:

  1. Register for Network Symplicity OR log in to your account and update your profile, especially class standing, expected graduation, and GPA.  If you’ve dropped or added a major in the College, then be sure that information is accurate in your profile too.  If your profile is not current, then you may show up as ineligible to apply for some opportunities.
  2. Check out the Fall Career Days list of employers and start researching those you want to visit with during the event.
  3. Update your resume with any summer internship, volunteer, or global/study abroad experiences and upload it to your Network Symplicity account for review.
  4. Update your internship information in Network Symplicity.  Had an internship this summer and didn’t report it yet?  You can still log in and add it to your profile at any time.
  5. Get a handle on the strengths you can offer potential employers by taking the StrengthsFinder® on-line assessment.
  6. Follow the Career Enrichment Network on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter to keep up with the latest events, opportunities, and internship postings.
  7. View our calendar of events in Network Symplicity to make sure you don’t miss out on anything for the semester! Events already quickly approaching include: From Global Experience to Career (8/30), Marketing Your Liberal Arts Degree (9/6), Fall Career Days (9/13-15), Education Abroad Fair (10/12), & more!

Invent Penn State – Venture & IP Conference

Interested in Startups or Entrepreneurship? Check out the Invent Penn State – Venture & IP Conference on October 6 & 7, 2016.

How can undergraduate students get involved?

There are the ways that undergraduates can participate in the PSVIP; participation or selection in any of the channels below does not preclude participation in another; i.e., a student is eligible to participate in multiple tracks below.

Logistics Committee Volunteers. 

Students who are willing to assist with logistics for 8 hours during the conference will be given a complimentary registration and meals.  There are limited slots for the Logistics Committee, which will be filled on a first come, first serve basis.  Students who wish to serve on the Logistics Committee can register at the following link: https://pennstatevip.com/register?discount=P5cBcT6m.

 

Inc.U Student Startup Pitch Competition.  

Undergraduate student entrepreneurs, enrolled and in good academic standing in Fall 2016, who have or intend to start a new company venture will be eligible to apply for the Inc.U. Student Startup Pitch Competition. Six to 10 outstanding student startups will be selected to give a 1-minute pitch at the PSVIP on October 6th and will be eligible for a cash award to their company. Selected student presenters (one from each selected student company) will be provided a complimentary registration and accommodations on October 6.  The web-based application http://incuniversity.wix.com/about#!penn-state-university/ct8a is open; it will close on September 9, 2016.  The winning student companies will be notified by September 16, 2016.

Engineering Technical Writer Co-Op
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary responsibilities of this role, Engineering Technical Writer Co-Op, are to:
  • Support aspects of compliance related to products manufactured at the Myerstown Consumer Health Production Facility.
  • Perform documentation and data collection in support of a variety of site objectives.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of production based document management processes.
  • Contribute to the development and/or revision of documents related to SOP’s, training, compliance and other site specific materials.
  • Comply with all workplace standards and safety procedures, Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs),  Occupational Safety and Health Administration requirements (OSHA), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and Company Guidelines.
  • Participate in special projects as assigned
WHO YOU ARE

Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:
Required Qualifications
  • Must be enrolled and currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Technical Writing, English, Communications, Graphic Design or related degree in an accredited college / university.
  • Availability to complete a fall 2016 co-op term at our site in Myerstown, PA.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills, including an ability to interact with and establish good working relationships with diverse individuals.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Demonstrated PC skills with an emphasis on Microsoft Office software, Adobe products and other technical software.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior internship, co-op or practical work experience related to Technical Writing or Communications.
  • Previous internship or co-op experience in a regulated industry/environment.
  • GPA of 3.0 or above.
  • Some Mechanical or Electrical aptitude.
