The 10-month resident MPS in Management and Organizational Leadership from the Penn State Smeal College of Business is being designed for recently graduated baccalaureate students with strong quantitative skills from non-business disciplines.

The Program—part of an emerging trend of career-acceleration degrees that are becoming very popular with prospective employers—intends to provide the essential business skills to compete for accelerated management and leadership roles within top organizations.

Current undergraduates, particularly those in their junior years of study, can now plan to apply for fall 2017 enrollment in the MPS. Pending curricular approval and presentation to the Penn State Board of Trustees, the college will begin reviewing applications in fall 2016. For the first year, the program will be capped at only 40 students.

The Program is adapted from the first year of the two-year residential Penn State Smeal MBA Program. The proposed 32-credit MPS curriculum will offer a strong foundation in the basics of business, with coursework in areas such as accounting, finance, management, marketing, and supply chain management. Beyond fundamentals and well-honed business acumen, MPS students will also be prepared to lead with integrity and character, emerging with the skills to communicate effectively and establish critical partnerships.

Postgraduate Scholarships: Centre for Research in Modern European Philosophy (CRMEP) at Kingston University, London

Postgraduate scholarships being offered by the Centre for Research in Modern European Philosophy (CRMEP) at Kingston University London, for 2016–17.

MA SCHOLARSHIPS:

– One £5,000 competitive scholarships for non-EU students to study on MA Contemporary European Philosophy, 2016/17 start: a unique, 18-month programme jointly run and awarded with the Philosophy Department at the University of Paris 8, Saint-Denis. A good reading knowledge of French is a requirement for admission to the programme. Language support is offered in London in semester 1. DEADLINE for applications: 8 February 2016

– Four £2,000 scholarships open to all applicants: one for each of our four taught MA/MPhilStud programmes:

  • MA Aesthetics and Art Theory,

  • MA Philosophy and Contemporary Critical Theory
  • MPhilStud in Philosophy (2-year taught MPhil programme in Modern European Philosophy with 25,000-30,000 word dissertation. Only full time applicants are eligible for the scholarship, £2000.00 in each of the 2 years of the programme.)

DEADLINE for applications: 21 April 2016

Introduction to Diversity in Doctoral Education And Scholarship (IDDEAS)

This two-day program seeks to attract a diverse group of promising undergraduate students and introduce them to business research at the doctoral level. Funded by the Office of the Provost and the Office of the Dean of the Wharton School, the goal of this program is to support and encourage student and faculty diversity.

What will you do as an IDDEAS participant?
  • Meet current doctoral students and faculty.
  • Learn about doctoral-level research.
  • Discuss careers in university teaching and research.
  • Take a master class from world-renowned Wharton faculty.
  • Gain advice about graduate school opportunities and insights on the application process.
