All Majors Invited to Participate in Deloitte’s Consulting Case Competition

Description: This competition is a great way for students of any major to learn more about problem-solving as a whole in addition to gaining exposure to professional business culture.

Teams: should consist of 4 undergraduate students (freshmen and sophomores only).  All majors are welcome and a minimum 3.3 GPA is required

Timing: the competition takes place from Feb. 1st-3rd, starting with a kick-off on the 1st and ending with the final presentations on the 3rd

Applications: due by Friday, January 20th and should be submitted using the directions on the flyer below

National Competition: the winning team of the Penn State competition will compete in the National Case Competition, held at Deloitte University in Texas from March 9-11 with all expenses covered.

Basic Info and Goals

Liberal Arts Career Week is a week-long event from January 16-20, 2017.  We try to offer a wide range of events to provide all Liberal Arts majors with a chance to develop professional skills and to network with employers from the public and private sectors, and alumni from all backgrounds!

Events

Events will range from employer panels to workshops to alumni networking events to info tables. Here is a quick sampling of some events to expect:

Employers and Alumni

Employers and alumni from a wide range of fields will be participating in events during Liberal Arts Career Week.

Currently, recruiters from the following organizations will be participating in one or more events: Teach for America, City Year, Penn State Washington Program, Planned Parenthood, Pennsylvania State Police, Liberty Mutual, Vanguard, Target, Altria, WPSU, & EY.

Be sure to note which employer will be participating in each event on our website so you can maximize your opportunity to connect with a company in which you are interested!

Summary

Learn about the benefits of study abroad and answer your questions about enrichment funding, financial aid and the application process.

Study abroad alumni will also share their experience and tell you why studying abroad on a Penn State faculty led program is a once in a lifetime experience!

With multiple programs to choose from, you will also have the chance to speak with faculty leaders and learn which program is best for you.

After a general information session, students will have the opportunity to meet with faculty leaders to learn more about specific programs.

What is Explore?

How much do you know about your strengths and who you are?  What do you want to do after college? How does understanding your values and purpose help you identify a potential career?  PwC’s Explore program is an experience you don’t want to miss!  Explore is a one day program focused on helping participants identify and analyze their strengths, values and passions to better understand who they are and what they want to do.  Students will learn alongside PwC professionals who will provide real-life examples of how they have enriched their careers by aligning their strengths, values and passions personally and professionally.  Participants will leave Explore with a stronger sense of who they are, who PwC is and what future opportunities might exist for them in professional services.

Location: Penn Stater Hotel and Conference Center (transportation from campus will be provided)
Date: Monday, January 16, 2017 (MLK Day – no class!)
Time: 9am-4:30pm (tentative time)
Dress: Casual

Who is eligible?

  • Freshmen, Sophomores, or Juniors (in a five year program) currently considering pursuing a Bachelors/Masters degree in business and/or STEM.
  • Your final graduation date (i.e. 150 credits for Accounting majors) must be December 2018 or later!
